Getting Fit off Road

Living in Hertfordshire, for the past week, we have had what some are calling adverse weather conditions. I think snow is brilliant and we can either get upset by the delays that it causes or get on and enjoy it.

Well, due to the snow which started a week ago, I haven't been able to get out running as it has been very icy underfoot but that doesn't mean that I haven't been getting a workout.  We have built 6 snowmen, three of which are over 5ft hight and rolling those snowballs was mighty hard work.  Then when it snowed some more, I started heaping the snow in a huge pile to make a snow fort/cave for my three boys.

Again, it was lots of fun but also an excellent workout and was very pleased to see them outside in the snow having scotch pancakes cooked on a camping for dinner/tea/supper (depending on where you are from) at about 6pm on Saturday night.  The moon was out and it was windless, so it was really beautiful.

I have also been doing a Royal Canadian Airforce Exercise programme along with some additional exercises to work on my all round fitness while I am unable to run.

On Saturday, I went down to London for the day for the London Marathon "Meet the Experts" day. It was a good day and I learned some new things and it also helped it to sink in that there are just short of 11 weeks till the big day and many miles yet to run.
