Extreme Sport?

I've never really felt the need to partake in extreme sports and I have not really considered running an extreme sport (providing you exclude things like Pamplona's running of the bulls and the Sahara 160km ultra marathon).  Yet on Saturday, I went out for a run and faced high wind, pelting rain and stinging hail!

Oh well, I suppose it all serves to toughen me up for the London Marathon which is one day less than 4 weeks today.

I didn't get to write an update last week as we had a baby girl last Sunday, so things have been a bit busier than before, but she is feeding and sleeping well and I have still managed to find some time to keep up with my training.

The Saturday before last I went for a fairly quick 17 mile run which went well and then straight into a men's breakfast for our church.  I could certainly feel the effects of not stretching after running and it definitely slowed my recovery - a lesson to remember.

This week is the last big week of training before starting to taper before the marathon.  I aim to run 19 or 20 miles on Saturday and then my weekend long runs will taper before the big day.
