Even though not all Christians are called to preach, all true Christians should be witnesses a quote states Derek early in the book. He then proceeds to lead the way, presenting his own powerful testimony with clarity and conviction. Derek tells of his formal religious upbringing and his exceptional education at two of Britain's top educational establishments – Eton College and Cambridge University. He recalls his rebellious teenage years and rejection of Christianity.
Turning to philosophy and then to oriental cults and even voodoo Derek became highly frustrated with the gap between the ideal and the actual. He became a heavy whiskey drinker but found no answers.
The story unfolds with Derek’s search for reality culminating in a personal encounter with Jesus Christ which changed him permanently. But that was just the beginning!
His early years as a true Christian were spent in the deserts of the Middle East where he was serving with the British Army during world war two. Valuable and foundational
lessons were learned during that period which Derek shares openly in this book. He describes the authority and power he found in the Scriptures ultimately leading to his healing from a seemingly incurable skin disease.
