Our DPM-Cambodia Director, Huy, recently sent us the following report on a youth outreach held in Takeo Province:
Cambodia experienced its darkest time during the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979 when more than two million educated people were killed. Educated elderly people are now so rare and so precious in this country. Fifty percent of the Cambodian population is younger than 22 years old, so education in God’s Word and youth ministry is the focus area of DPM-Cambodia.
Recently, we partnered with a local church in Takeo Province, reaching out to 150 young people during the Buddhist public holiday. The youth proclamation cards are great material and we used the card I Look Good for this outreach programme (see the Khmer-language card).
Pastor Kin, who is a senior pastor of First Harvest Church, shared with us that he keeps praising the Lord that this youth outreach took place. He really wants to see more youth coming to church to understand why they are so valued and loved by the Lord Jesus Christ. He said: "I am old now, but I always pray that many more young people rise up to serve the Lord and reach out to their friends, family and community. The harvest is plentiful; may the Lord send out more people to the field."
Pastor Chhairith, who is serving with DPM-Cambodia, preached and used the youth proclamation card to tell these young people the truth that they are created by the Lord in His own image and that they are wonderfully made. We are so precious to God and He loves us so much that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Praise the Lord that many of them accepted Jesus in their heart and as their saviour. They really prayed to the Lord and are seeking His will in their lives. May the Lord bless them and raise them up to serve this beautiful country again.
