Outreach in the Philippines: a great hunger for good Bible teaching
Our Philippines Director, John Cochrane, recently reported:
"What I am observing is that the Philippines is an open mission field and a great hunger for good teaching. I have just returned from a very successful trip to the Islands below us of Sama and Leyte. About 20 pastors from different churches were awaiting me in the city of Catbalogan. That was amazing, because pastors from 'traditional’ churches never mixed with Evangelical or Pentecostals, but here they were! They were so happy to not only hear about DPM and receive and buy books, but they have all arranged to meet together every week. The Senior Pastor said he is now a Bapticostal! I gave free copies of Self Study Bible Course and other Derek Prince books to all Pastors.
We then travelled two hours to Tacloban City on the island of Leyte (where Nov 2013 typhoon Yolanda hit). A couple of days later, after distribution of relief supplies to an area badly affected and badly served since Yolanda, I met Pastors and leaders at a New life church and gave a package of Self Study Bible Course and Derek Prince books to them, While there, I taught from Derek’s teaching on How to Pass from Curse to Blessing. I have now been invited back next January when in both cities they will try to get every Pastor to attend. They would also like me to visit two other cities in Leyte to meet the Pastors.
Upcoming trips include visiting north Philippines where my friend has 80 churches and where I am known at a Bible School. I have also been invited to Palawan Island (west Philippines) by Pastors along with Cebu (central Philippines).
Derek’s daily devotional, Declaring God's Word, is proving to be very popular amongst Pastors, as is Self Study Bible Course in the Tagalog language, the national language in the Philippines.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support."
