Ramadan in Iran
How can they live without hope?

June 2017. It's Ramadan, that special month each year when Muslims worldwide fast from dawn until sunset and refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and engaging in sexual relations. It is believed that the Quran was first revealed to Muhammad during the month of Ramadan. During this special month, our outreach team travelled to Iran to share about Jesus Christ.

"We walked the streets, praying for the people and asking God to connect us with 'a man of peace'", says Pajam, our outreach coordinator. "We could sense a different atmosphere compared to previous trips. Because of the fasting, people were stressful and unfriendly, almost angry. The people who were fasting were more focused on abstaining from food, but not so much on seeking Allah… or Jesus Christ.

On the other hand, the people who gave a friendly response turned out not to be fasting. It was the first time we had a mission trip to Iran during the time of Ramadan and we saw how people were fasting without joy and hope. But how can they live without hope? That question deeply touched our hearts and we pray that hope from the Lord will reach them through the Gospel."

Pajam and his team shared their testimony with people they met on the street. To those who wanted to know more about Jesus, they secretly handed a micro-SD card. These cards fit into most mobile phones and contain valuable resources, such as the Persian (Farsi) Bible and the Jesus movie. Some of Derek's Persian books can also be read through these cards, such as Blessing or curse: you can choose; Complete salvation and how to receive it; Extravagant love; Foundations for Christian living; Husband and fathers; and Thanksgiving, praise and worship.

Pajam: "People in Iran have limited access to materials about the issues of life, so they need books like these, about marriage and spiritual life. It's good to

have these books on SD-cards because they're easy to distribute. However, not everyone has access to a smartphone, especially in smaller villages. We hope to find a way to bring printed books with us, but we need prayer for that. Prayer is so vital to bless the Iranian people. With divine hope in our hearts, we pray, that each micro-SD we distributed, will open hearts to receive Jesus!"

Every month we put hundreds of SD cards and books by Derek Prince into the hands of seekers and believers in the Middle East. This is only possible because of the generosity of people like you.
